Creating a piggy bank is easy, and it introduces you to your CloudDot account. Contact Labjack Support with questions or to automate the process for you.
  1. Create a free CloudDot account

    Visit http://cloud.labjack.com/signup/ to create your account. If you already have a CloudDot account, way to be ahead of the curve; you may skip to step 2.

    The signup is a two-step process.

    CloudDot will email your username and password to you when you click "Signup".
  2. Make a channel

    Visit http://cloud.labjack.com/USERNAME/admin where USERNAME is your username, and you'll be prompted to log in.

    After logging, in click on the "Channels" link in the LabJack menu on the sidebar. In the Add Channel section, add a channel named "Balance". Give it units of "$". Your channel must be named Balance. In the future, we will let you name it differently, and we will support multiple bank accounts, but for now your account is limited to one bank balance named "Balance".

    When you're done, your channels should look like this:

    Give your Balance initial funds by typing it in and clicking "Write".

  3. Optional: Add an allowance script from the Script Library

    Click on the "Scripts" link in the sidebar.

    Scroll to the bottom, and click the Script Library's "Show/Hide" link.

    Near the bottom, find the scripts named "Allowance" and click the "Add to My Scripts" button.

    When you're done, your scripts should look like this:

  4. Optional: Configure and Activate the Allowance Script

    Click on the Allowance script, and click on text next to "Run every". Change the script to run, say, every 7 days. Change the weekly allowance, too, if you're more frugal or generous than $5.

    Click the activate button to run the script, and schedule it to run periodically. The script will turn purple when it's active.

  5. Make a page named "Balance"

    Click the "Add new" link under the Pages (not Posts) sidebar.

    Title the new page "Balance" and change its Template to "View Balance". Click "Publish".

    You're done. The page is now available at http://cloud.labjack.com/USERNAME/balance.

  6. Optional: Give others read-only access

    In the Users sidebar, click "Add New" and fill in a new username and email address. The new user will be able to view the balance, but not change it.

  7. Optional: Make the balance page the default

    In the Settings sidebar, click "Reading" and select the "Balance" page as the front page.
